The North Carolina Railroad Co. (NCRR) yesterday announced it will invest $200,000 in the development of Innovative Construction Group LLC's (ICG) new manufacturing facility in Siler City, North Carolina.

A subsidiary of PulteGroup Inc., ICG will build a plant that will amount to a $39.8 million investment in the region and generate 150 new jobs, according to an NCRR press release. NCRR is one of several partners named in the announcement.

NCRR's investment will help cover the design and construction of a rail spur to connect the new plant with the rail network and Norfolk Southern Railway. Once the site is active, rail activity will increase by a minimum of 75 rail cars each year, according to NCRR.

ICG serves building professionals focused on single-family, multifamily, and commercial construction projects. The Siler City plant will provide opportunities for production, woodworking, logistics and maintenance roles, adding to ICG's manufacturing capacity.
