The North Carolina Railroad Co. (NCRR) is investing in the rehabilitation of rail infrastructure for a beverage manufacturing campus to be constructed in Cabarrus County by Red Bull, Rauch and Ball Corp.

The 2 million-square-foot campus will house vertically integrated processes for beverage manufacturing, can-filling and distribution at the Grounds at Concord.

NCRR will provide $700,000 to assist in the rehabilitation of the company-owned portion of a lead track that will connect to the railroad and be served by Norfolk Southern Railway. The overall capital investment exceeds $900 million.

The beverage manufacturing operations will result in a substantial carload increase for the railroad and a significant economic boost to the area, said NCRR President and Chief Executive Officer Carl Warren in a news release.

"We are excited to welcome Red Bull, Rauch and Ball as new customers ... and we commend their transformative vision for the conversion of the site from a former cigarette manufacturing plant to the production location of a next-generation consumer product," he said.
