The North Carolina Railroad Co. (NCRR) will design and construct a rail spur and storage tracks at the future Triangle Tyre Co. Ltd. plant in Kingsboro, North Carolina.

The new plant is locating at a CSX Select Site in Edgecombe County. Through NCRR's economic development initiative, the railroad will invest about $2.5 million on design and construction of the spur and tracks.

Based in China, Triangle focuses on tire technology innovation and manufacturing. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced last month that Triangle would build its first U.S. plant in Kingsboro. The company is expected to create 800 jobs and invest about $580 million in the area.

"Edgecombe County and the Carolinas Gateway Partnership have worked to ensure the Kingsboro site was ready to attract a significant employer, and this announcement with the North Carolina Railroad Co. and other key partners, as well as the resulting construction, will have a very meaningful impact on the region," said NCRR Vice Chairman Bill Kincheloe in a press release.
