Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway (ACWR) recently completed a project with Savage Services to rebuild four SD-40-2 and two MP-15 EMD locomotives for a large industrial facility in Houston.

The engines were desired for their horsepower and maneuverability in rail-yard switching operations, ACWR and Savage officials said in a press release.

"It is nice to see new life given to some of the greatest work horses on the rails," said Dale Parks, ACWR's vice president of mechanical.

ACWR Assistant Chief Mechanical Officer Steven Weathers headed the project, which included painting one locomotive to honor military veterans.

ACWR and Savage Services have teamed up on multiple locomotive projects in the past, and look forward to working on additional projects in the future, said Gerry Ferrell, Savage's vice president of motive power.
