Northern Plains Rail Services (NPRS) has forged a partnership with NorthStar Midstream to provide switching operations at its new transload terminal in Fairview, N.D., within the Bakken Shale region.

Initial inbound operations are scheduled to begin in early November. Located near the North Dakota/Montana border and a BNSF Railway Co. mainline, the NorthStar terminal features a ladder track with more than 80,000 linear feet of track, as well as on-site storage areas, vertical silos and indoor warehousing space.

NPRS will provide industrial rail switching services to support NorthStar Transloading’s day-to-day operations at the terminal. NorthStar Midstream develops and owns rail terminals, and provides transportation services for crude oil and related products.

NPRS operate short lines and industrial railways, and provides rail management and various other services, including rail-car and locomotive maintenance and repairs, and design, construction, inspection and maintenance of rail facilities.
