OmniTRAX Inc. yesterday dedicated its Savannah Industrial Transportation (SIT) rail yard in honor of Dean Piacente, OmniTRAX board member and former CEO.

Formally certified in 2025, the 7-mile SIT serves the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub (SGIH) and interchanges with CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway, providing shippers with access to the Port of Savannah and the North American freight-rail network.

“This railroad would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of Dean Piacente,” said OmniTRAX CEO Colby Tanner at the dedication ceremony.

The Piacente Rail Yard supports the movements of more than 5,000 cars annually, with traffic expected to double within the next year, OmniTRAX officials said in a press release.
