OmniTRAX Inc. and its affiliate Brownsville & Rio Grande International Railway (BRG) yesterday distributed $100,000 in contributions to eight local nonprofit organizations in Brownsville, Texas, to address the community's economic stress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizations receiving the contributions were Proyecto Juan Diego, Moody Clinic, Good Neighbor Settlement, Sunshine Heaven, Walk for Women, Gladys Porter Zoo and the local Boy Scout and Girl Scout councils.

Brownsville is "an important partner" for OmniTRAX and BRG, said Federico Diaz Page, OmniTRAX's director of economic development, in a press release.

"As the pandemic's sustained effects strain resources even further, it was critical that we find a way to help those in need," Diaz Page said.

Meanwhile, OmniTRAX officials also announced this week that the company and its affiliate Northern Ohio and Western Railway are funding 120,000 meals through the West Ohio Food Bank, which serves the hungry in 11 western Ohio counties.
