OmniTRAX Inc. has begun operating the Decatur Central Railroad LLC, the company announced earlier this week.

The Decatur Central Railroad runs 16 miles southwest from Cisco to Decatur, Ill., where it interchanges with CN. The railroad connects with the Midwest Inland Port via CN and provides access to an intermodal ramp with two 3,800-foot intermodal tracks for both imports and exports, OmniTRAX officials said in a press release.

In July 2016, the company formed a joint venture with Topflight Grain Cooperative Inc. to operate the railroad, which will transport grain from TopFlight Coop members to the plants of ADM, Tate & Lyle and other processing companies in and around Macon County, Ill.

The Decatur Central Railroad previously was the northern portion of the Decatur Junction Railway Co.
