OmniTRAX Inc. has kicked off its new Rail-Ready Sites Program with 10 sites along the New Jersey division of the Winchester and Western Railroad.
Located in Cumberland County, the sites have access to CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway. They are "ideal locations" for rail-served manufacturing, food processing, recycling and distribution facilities, OmniTRAX officials said in a press release.
Combined, the sites total close to 600 acres. Individually, they range in size from 7 acres to more than 140 acres. They were chosen by landowners and developers with input from the Cumberland County Improvement Authority, Choose New Jersey Inc. and municipal development departments.
"The Rail-Ready Sites program is a way to collaborate with our community partners and bring rail-served properties to market, aiding those communities and embracing rail-related growth," said Ean Johnson, OmniTRAX vice president of economic development.
Cumberland County offers shippers strategic proximity and connections to markets with more than 100 million customers in the New Jersey-Boston-New York City-Philadelphia-Washington, D.C. corridor, said Gerard Velazquez III, the Cumberland County Improvement Authority's president and chief executive officer.
