OmniTRAX Inc. officials last week pledged support for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) as part of the company's efforts to expand its outreach to hiring military veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve.
OmniTRAX Senior Director of Operations Jason Cathey attended a signing ceremony at the Pentagon to make the company's pledge to the ESGR, which is the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) program for cooperation between civilian employers and their National Guard and Reserve employees.
"This program fits our goals of investing in the future generations of railroaders while supporting out country’s military," said OmniTRAX Chief Executive Officer Kevin Shuba, an Army veteran, in a press release.
OmniTRAX’s participation in the signing event was facilitated by FASTPORT, a veteran employment software company that helps members of the military find career opportunities; and Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation (SPRING), which works to attract and retain talent for railroads and rail-related suppliers.
In support of ESGR, OmniTRAX, SPRING and FASTPORT have created a registered apprenticeship program for conductors, OmniTRAX officials said.
