OmniTRAX railroad to serve new cat litter plant in Colorado

OmniTRAX Inc.'s Great Western Railway of Colorado LLC (GWR) will provide direct rail service to a new Intersand America Corp. plant that will be built in the Great Western Industrial Park (GWIP) in Windsor, Colorado, OmniTRAX announced yesterday.
Intersand is a global cat litter producer. Its planned 46,000-square-foot production, packaging and distribution facility will be the company's first U.S. location and the latest addition to GWIP.
OmniTRAX, an affiliate of The Broe Group, owns both the GWR and the industrial park. OmniTRAX Chief Executive Officer and Broe Real Estate Group Executive Vice President Reagan Shanley joined Intersand President and CEO Stephane Chevigny and local officials for a recent groundbreaking ceremony for the project.
The Canadian-based Intersand is a leading exporter of cat litter selling in 47 countries. Its new Colorado distribution center will provide a strategic geographic U.S. presence near the bentonite clay mines of Wyoming that further enhances supply chain efficiency for its raw materials via rail, OmniTRAX officials said.
"GWIP’s strategic location between Interstate-70 and I-80 continues to demonstrate supply chain value while delivering the efficient, safe and green benefits that rail service provides," Shanley said.
Intersand's new plant will continue the manufacturer's philosophy of constructing environmentally friendly and efficient production, packaging and distribution facilities, company officials said.
