Yesterday, OmniTRAX Inc. announced that Mercuria Energy Trading Inc. has developed a terminal in Texas to ship crude oil on the Panhandle Northern Railway L.L.C. (PNR), which operates 31 miles of track between Panhandle and Borger, home to the nation's largest inland petrochemical complex.

The terminal will be used to receive crude oil via truck from surrounding production fields, store it in tanks on site and then load the product into rail cars for shipment to refineries throughout the United States. PNR operates a former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway line and interchanges with BNSF Railway Co. in Panhandle.

Mercuria Energy’s decision to locate the facility along the short line’s track “further highlights the fact that the PNR is well located to service the growing energy sector in north Texas and southern Oklahoma,” said OmniTRAX Chief Commercial Officer Mike Peters in a prepared statement.

OmniTRAX owns 17 regionals and short lines operating in 11 states and three Canadian provinces.
