PennDOT provides state funds for five small road projects

On March 10, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation released grants totaling more than $6 million for five projects involving regionals and short lines.

The grants include:
• $2 million to Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad Co. to improve the former Erie Lackawanna line in Erie;
• $2 million to RFI Energy Inc. to provide a coal facility access to Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad Co.'s line;
• $1 million to Allegheny Valley Railroad Co. to continue rehabilitating track between Pittsburgh and New Kensington;
• $955,256 to Delaware & Hudson Railway Co. to expand and rehabilitate its product handling facilities at the Philadelphia Naval Yard; and
• $500,000 to Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co. to continue rehabilitating mainline track from Bridgeville to a Clairton branch line.
