In fall, Digital Concepts Inc. expects to deliver a Digital Traffic Control™ system to Union Railroad Co. (URR).

Owned by U.S. Steel Corp., the short line will use Digital Concepts' Wireless Management Workstations to monitor train, maintenance and signal operations in real time. The laptop workstations feature Electronic Authority Exchange (eAX™), which is designed to automate authority requests, issuances and releases, and provide mobile maintenance work planning tools.

Pittsburgh-based URR operates 65 mainline and 200 yard track miles, and serves steel, utility, mining and chemical shippers.

To date, Digital Concepts has installed more than 200 dispatcher and 450 management workstation Digital Traffic Control systems, including a dispatch system for The Belt Railway of Chicago delivered earlier this year.
