R. J. Corman Switching opens new facility in West Virginia

R. J. Corman Switching Co. LLC, a subsidiary of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, last week marked the the start of operations of its Central Appalachia Inland Port at Prichard (CAIPP) division in Wayne County, West Virginia.

The CAIPP is a 65-acre facility at the southern end of Prichard, West Virginia, owned by the Wayne County Commission.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the launch of a multiphase project led by R. J. Corman Switching. In the project’s first phase, the company will use a portion of the site as a car repair hub, company officials said in a press release.

R. J. Corman Switching has established partnerships with railroads, car owners and clients to operate mechanical car repair services at 12 other sites nationwide. In this first phase of operations at the CAIPP, the company will have diverse equipment and assets and a workforce of 14 employees. In additional phases, R. J. Corman Switching will seek to expand operations to various new capabilities.

State and local elected officials and representatives of R. J. Corman Railroad Group and the community were in attendance at the Feb. 22 event.
