Rail News: Short Lines & Regionals
RMI continues to pad its customer list for the company’s Web-based RailConnect® and ShipperConnect™ services. Since April, RMI has implemented the services for more than 90 railroads, shippers and rail-car owners.
During the past five months, 44 railroads — which handle more than 595,000 annual carloads — began using RMI’s RailConnect Transportation Management Services (TMS) to control operations and 34 roads began implementing RailConnect Equipment Management Services (EMS) for car hire payable accounting functions. Overall, 293 railroads now use TMS to manage about 7.5 million annual carloads and 370 roads use EMS.
In addition, several shippers began using the information technology services provider’s ShipperConnect e-BOL to manage bills of lading online and ShipperConnect FMS to track shipments.
“We are continuing to reinvest heavily in the development of new features for all of our services that will provide even greater automation and information to our users,” said RMI Vice President of Marketing Paul Pascutti in a prepared statement.
