RailComm installs yard automation system for Alton & Southern Railway
advertisement
RailComm Inc. recently installed a wireless remote-control and yard automation system for the Alton & Southern Railway Co. in East St. Louis, Ill.
The 160-mile short line/switching railroad will use RailComm’s 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz spectrum data radio networks to control more than 30 switch machines along an 18-mile line. The supplier installed a wireless remote-control device on each of the line’s switches.
Replacing a yard control panel, RailComm’s system includes a server-based Domain Operations Controller and point-to-point wireless data communication network featuring the supplier’s RADiANT™ data radio technology.
RailComm markets machine-to-machine command, control, communication and information solutions to North American freight and passenger railroads, and other industries.
