Last week, Railinc introduced two additions to its RailSync™ transportation management system, which is targeted at regionals and short lines.

Shipper Tools is designed to provide a real-time, dashboard view of rail shipments, and improve collaboration between connecting railroads, and shippers and fleet owners. The Web-based software features applications that monitor destinations and estimated times of arrival, create and manage bills of lading and car orders, trace and inventory equipment, and handle demurrage charges and switching requests.

A wireless device designed to be used by train crews in the field, RailSync Mobile Command features applications for recording car movement events and viewing switch lists.

The portable device can save short lines and regionals time and money by reducing the number of hours conductors and engineers spend entering data and updating paper lists at the end of their shift, according to a prepared statement.

Railinc provides information technology services to North American railroads, shippers, equipment owners and suppliers, and manages e-commerce Web site Steelroads.com.
