Raritan Central Railway L.L.C. recently obtained a long-term contract to provide rail service to the Heller Industrial Park in Edison, N.J., according to the short line's quarterly newsletter.

The 2,600-acre park offers distribution center and warehouse space totaling more than 24 million square feet. Raritan Central plans to serve current park customers Dawn Foods and Superior Warehousing Co., a third-party logistics company for food grade and cold storage products.

The 16-mile short line will rely on the "same successful business formula" it developed three years ago at Raritan Industrial Park — southwest of Heller Park in Edison &3151; to build business at Heller, said Raritan Central owner and President Eyal Shapira.

"This includes a heavy investment in rail infrastructure, an increase in rail service to seven days a week, additional daily switches with no additional charges, and aggressive marketing of the park's available facilities and our services," he said.

Shapira also owns the 25-mile Pennsylvania & Southern Railway L.L.C. and five-mile New Jersey & Northern Railway L.L.C.
