The Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad Co. (RBMN) recently promoted Executive Vice President Wayne Michel to president.

A 26-year railroad industry veteran, Michel joined the 317-mile short line in 2002 as EVP after serving as a consultant to RBMN and other short lines since 1999. He previously served Conrail in various capacities, including line sale and abandonment program manager, head of real estate sales and acquisitions, and industrial development department manager.

In 1995, Michel helped develop Conrail EXPRESS — the nations' first short-line franchise program, according to a prepared statement. RBMN was one of a few small roads invited to become a charter EXPRESS member.

"Wayne is an exceptional railroader who has done a great job," said RBMN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Muller Jr. "Each of the last four years, we have broken our prior traffic and revenue records."
