Rail News: Short Lines & Regionals
Short-line entrepreneur Eyal Shapira now controls three small roads. On Feb. 1, the 25-mile Pennsylvania & Southern Railway L.L.C. (PSCC) began operating over lines formerly controlled by Beth Intermodal that interchange with CSX Transportation in Chambersburg, Pa.
PSCC serves the 1,200-acre Cumberland Valley Business Park and 16,000-acre Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg.
The park contains more than 1 million square feet of rail-served warehousing and manufacturing space, more than 500 rail-car spots, and several rail ramps designed to load and unload heavy equipment and automobiles, said Shapira, PSCC president, in a prepared statement.
Shapira also owns the 16-mile Raritan Central Railway L.L.C., and five-mile New Jersey & Northern Railway L.L.C., which operate in New Jersey.
