The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) and Inland Rivers Ports & Terminals Association (IRPT) recently entered into an agreement that outlines how the two entities will support mutually beneficial intermodal opportunities.Signed last month by ASLRRA President Linda Darr and IRPT President Hugh McConnell, the resolution of cooperation calls for the formation of a joint committee to meet the goals of both organizations, a notice in ASLRRA's "Views & News" stated.Staff and committee members from both organizations will collaborate in pursuing projects, proposals and other joint efforts."ASLRRA's staff continually seeks avenues to provide economic opportunity for our members. This partnership with IRPT provides one example of that work," Darr said in remarks shared at ASLRRA's regional meetings. "It is our mutual intent to convene a committee consisting of members of both associations to pursue this intermodal opportunity via state-sponsored rail grants to increase service into inland ports."
