The Texas Rock Crusher Railway (TXR) has been recognized as the 2017 Medium Business of the Year by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce in Texas.

TXR is a subsidiary of short-line and logistics center operator TNW Corp. of Dallas.

The chamber chose TXR as its award recipient based on the short line's community involvement, according to a TNW press release.

"TXR works closely with a variety of youth and social service organizations in the Brownwood area either through leadership service, economic support or volunteer involvement," TNW officials said in the press release. The railroad also has supported the work of the chamber, city of Brownwood and Brownwood Municipal Development District in expanding the area's economy, they said.

"We feel it is essential to be a proactive partner in building our communities, either by improving the quality of life through social and civic service programs or by coordinating with business leaders to keep the area's business communities thriving and growing," said Jeff Davis, TNW chief operations officer.
