Transportation management system users now number 20 short lines, RAILINC says

Since June, 20 short lines have chosen RailSync™ Command as their transportation management system, according to a statement released yesterday by RailSync developer RAILINC.
Command is designed to help small roads report accurate and timely rail-car movement events, and locate delayed cars on their property. RailSync offers Web-based car reporting, interline data exchange, interline revenue settlement and car hire processing tools.
"We are pleased to see the rapid adoption of Command by short lines of all sizes," said Dick Flynn, RAILINC assistant vice president of marketing and sales, in a prepared statement. "The advancement of Command and development of other new products are critical pieces in our customer-driven approach to meeting the needs of the short-line and regional railroad market."
Georgia Southwestern Railroad (GSWR) was one of the first short lines to implement RailSync in 2002.
"The ease of use offered by RailSync and having complete visibility of our critical operational data from any location has made Command the right choice for GSWR and a key part of our day-to-day operation," said GSWR Vice President David Smoot.
RAILINC provides information technology services to North American railroads, shippers, equipment owners and suppliers, and manages e-commerce Web site Steelroads.com.
