Wisconsin & Southern transloads large electrical equipment

Last month, the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. (WSOR) transloaded six cars of oversize electrical generators and worked with CN to transport the dimensional loads to Canada.

The generators were assembled in Darien, Wis., and moved by truck to WSOR’s yard in Janesville, Wis., where they were transloaded onto flat cars. The regional worked with Professional Power Products Inc., Railtran Services, Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, Midwest Patrol & Investigative and CN to load out the freight, WSOR officials said in a news item posted on the railroad’s web site.

“Every dimensional load has special provisions, however the rushed timeframe for this shipment was out of the ordinary and our largest hurdle to resolve,” they said, adding that WSOR operated an extra train to expedite the empty flat cars from Slinger to Janesville.
