Bought & sold
- Trinity Industries Inc. has purchased 20 percent of the equity in the newly formed TRIP Holdings L.L.C., which will provide rail-car leasing and management services in North America.
- ENIDINE Inc. parent International Motion Control approved a purchase agreement to sell the company to ITT Corp.
- ShipXpress acquired the RailSync short-line rail operations management system from Railinc.
Mechanical
- Alstom Transport obtained a $2.8 billion contract to supply 80 double-decker high-speed trains to the French National Railways.
- Bombardier Transportation obtained a $153 million contract from Swedish freight company Green Cargo to modernize 104 locomotives.
- MotivePower Inc. received orders worth $33 million for 12 MPXpress® commuter locomotives from the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, Metropolitan Council of Minnesota and New Mexico’s Mid-Region Council of Governments.
- National Railway Equipment Co. obtained an order for two generator-set locomotives from the Fort Worth & Western Railroad.
Power components
- Lat-Lon L.L.C. will supply 32 Locomotive Monitoring Units for Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd. and 50 units for Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Co.
Tied up
- North American Technologies Group Inc. obtained a multi-year amendment to a composite crosstie sales agreement with Union Pacific Railroad that calls for “a substantial portion of the company’s production to be delivered to UP with terms and conditions favorable to both parties,†according to a prepared statement.

- e-VERIFILE.COM Inc. announced that Canadian Pacific Railway’s U.S. operations implemented e-RAILSAFE, an industry-wide safety and security initiative.
