Rolling stock contracts

  • Ethanex Energy Inc. contracted Trinity Industries Inc. division TrinityRail to build 920 covered hopper and 1,050 tank cars, and provide fleet management services for three ethanol plants.
  • CBRail Ltd. contracted GE - Transportation to modernize 20 locomotives in Poland.

M&A



  • A. Stucki Co. acquired Kansas City, Mo.-based RJ Rail Services L.L.C., which will be integrated into A. Stucki’s American Industries subsidiary and operate as American Industries Midwest.

Component contract



  • The Timken Co. will supply 480 axle bearing assemblies to Bombardier Transportation for 60 high-speed locomotives being built for the Spanish National Railway.

Reorganization



  • AnsaldoBreda Inc. reorganized its North American operation by consolidating all responsibilities into two core areas — strategy/growth and operations management — and relocated its headquarters from New York City to Pittsburg, Calif. The passenger-car builder also delivered the first of 50 light-rail vehicles to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Marking a milestone



  • FreightCar America Inc. delivered the 100,000th aluminum coal car it’s produced since 1986, when the company introduced the BethGon® car. At a ceremony held in December in Danville, Ill., FreightCar America execs, and state and local officials christened the car — a BethGon® II delivered to NRG Energy Inc.

MOW



  • Canadian Pacific Railway will adopt Lewis Bolt & Nut Co.’s Evergrip™ double-head spike as a replacement for conventional screw spikes.

Web watch



  • 10East Corp. introduced Bolt-on Maps, a Web-based, pay-as-you-go mapping service that features map panning, zooming and centering, and navigation tools. The service also offers customized base maps, text and graphical map markers.
  • Hulcher Services Inc. launched a redesigned Web site that provides more information on its product offerings.

Award



  • A. Stucki Co. received an International MarCom Platinum Creative Award for its “Look What We’ve Become” advertising campaign and a Gold Award for its corporate capabilities information kit.
