• Bombardier Transportation won a $138 million contract to supply 30 FLEXITY Swift high-floor light-rail vehicles to Turkey's Bursa Metropolitan Municipality. The contract includes spare parts and an option for up to 28 additional vehicles. Scheduled to be delivered in 2010's second half, the vehicles will operate on Bursa's existing light-rail system, as well as a new extension.

• FreightCar America Inc. recently named Theodore Baun senior vice president, marketing and sales to succeed Edward Whalen, who will retire on Sept. 1. Baun first joined FreightCar America in 1994, serving in various operations, sales and marketing positions. From 2003 to 2005, he served as director of sales at Mitsui Rail Capital, then returned to FreightCar America. Baun has led the company's sales team since 2007.

• Interfleet Technology has obtained a more than $2 million contract to provide engineering assistance for New Jersey Transit's locomotive overhaul project. During the next two years, Interfleet will provide concept and specification development, procurement, design review, and manufacturing and testing oversight to the agency, which is refurbishing 20 electric locomotives.

• Harsco Corp. obtained an $8 million contract from construction firm May Gurney to provide rental scaffolding and related access services for the refurbishment and roof replacement at Victoria Station in London. May Gurney is re-roofing an area that covers eight platforms, major communication boards, a system entrance and numerous retail outlets. The project is scheduled to be complete in early 2010.
