• Amsted Rail will acquire Holland L.P.’s Hollube® Wear Eliminator product line. The acquisition is a good fit because it will give Amsted customers the option to include key wear prevention components as part of their Amsted Rail truck and end-of-car system purchases, said Amsted Rail Vice President of Sales and Marketing Brad Myers in a prepared statement. For Holland, the product line sale will enable the organization to focus on engineered solutions “involving our growing load securement and production protection product lines,” said Holland Group VP Leonard O’Kray. The agreement is scheduled to be finalized May 27.

• North American steel manufacturer Evraz Inc. N.A. has named Conrad Winkler executive vice president of the long products group, where he will oversee commercial and manufacturing activities. Prior to joining Evraz, Winkler was a partner at the global management consulting firm of Booz & Co., where he led manufacturing service offerings for trucks, auto, steel, aerospace, construction equipment and industrials.

• ISCO Industries L.L.C. recently added Southern Pipe & Supply Co. Inc. as the exclusive distributor for the Snap-Tite® product line in Mississippi. Southern Pipe, which has 26 locations in the state, will distribute the Snap-Tite culvert lining high-density polyethylene pipe, thread-liner and any large-diameter culvert lining products in the state.

• The American Council of Engineering Cos. of Tennessee has awarded the “Engineering Excellence Grand Prize” to international engineering and product management company AMEC for the firm’s emergency response in repairing a vital, flood-damaged rail line in Tennessee in May 2010. “In this case, superb orchestration of construction, design and permitting, which were all running parallel paths, resulted in the 21-day return to service,” wrote one judge, according to AMEC officials in a prepared statement.

• Integrated Business Consulting L.L.C. (IBC) has obtained a contract to provide Amtrak with education services to support the Strategic Asset Management (SAM) project, a national program designed to improve the business processes of Amtrak’s operational, financial and human resources systems. The contract with Amtrak “allows us to further extend our capabilities into the transportation industry” and complements the company’s federal, state and local knowledge base, said IBC partner George Hagstoz in a prepared statement.
