Miner Enterprises Inc. announced several leadership changes, including the Oct. 26 retirement of President Kris Jurasek, who had served the company for 39 years. Richard "Ric" Biehl was promoted from vice president of sales to president and general manager to succeed Jurasek. Biehl, who started his career in manufacturing at Miner, was appointed VP of sales in 2003. With his promotion, sales leadership will be assumed by two current managers. Miner also promoted William O'Donnell from director of international sales to executive director of global sales, and Charles Dupin from regional sales manager to director of North American sales. O'Donnell will be responsible for all rail product sales, service and marketing worldwide; Dupin will manage Miner's sales force in North America.

Today, Bombardier Transportation officially kicked off construction on a new Bogie Technical Center in Siegen, Germany. Slated to begin operation in mid-2014, the new center will bring together Bombardier engineering experts to continue to develop and test the FLEXX truck, or bogie, portfolio "to better fulfill customer requirements, in particular in terms of strict certification and homologation processes," Bombardier officials said in a prepared statement.

Siemens Infrastructure & Cities has obtained a $44 million contract from Brazilian commuter-rail operator Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos to modernize the traction power supply network of several rail rapid-transit lines in Sao Paulo by 2015. The 116-mile-long network connects the central station and district of Brás with suburban areas.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has awarded CTC Inc. a 2013 contract to review the state's signal circuitry plans at grade crossings to ensure compliance with state statutes and rules, as well as with American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association standards. CTC also will provide technical expertise and design for new railroad and traffic system preemption work across the state, and for upgrades at existing crossings.

Cubic Transportation Systems Inc. has obtained a $10 million contract from Bay Area Rapid Transit to provide the Clipper® Card fare collection system for the Warm Springs/South Fremont extension and integrate it with the Clipper system. Scheduled to open in 2015, the extension will add 5.4 miles to the route from the Fremont Station south to the Warm Springs District in Fremont, Calif.

New York Air Brake's (NYAB) Train Dynamic Systems Division announced its Irving, Texas, facility has been recommended for accreditation from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 standard, company officials said in a prepared statement. "ISO certification supports our customers' ability and confidence in using the new technologies developed at Train Dynamic Systems," NYAB President Mike Hawthorne said in a prepared statement.
