UP obtains another hazmat spill-sealing system
advertisement
Union Pacific Railroad recently purchased an additional hazardous materials leak-sealing system from 21st Century Technologies Inc. subsidiary Trident Technologies Inc.
The Class I plans to use the magnet-powered ProMag/SeaPatch system — which is designed to control hazmat leaks and ruptures following an accidental release or terrorist act — at its El Paso, Texas, yard. UP currently uses the system at facilities in Utah, Oregon and California.
Next year, 21st Century Technologies expects to begin marketing a non-magnetic version of ProMag and SeaPatch. The supplier currently is seeking federal funds to provide the systems to hazmat-spill first responders, such as local fire and police departments.
