Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight

Tutor Perini Corp. has executed an $840 million contract with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) for the second phase of the Third Street Light Rail program's Central Subway stations, surface, track and systems. SFMTA also issued a notice to proceed and Tutor Perini has begun initial work on the project, according to a company press release.

Pacer International Inc. announced that effective July 1, Pacer International/Ocean World Lines entered into a new agreement with CTS International Logistics Corp. Ltd. that will further expand its network. CTS will add 56 offices in mainland China to the Pacer/OWL network, which will provide a location in every major business and manufacturing center, port and airport, Pacer officials said in a press release.

J.L. Patterson & Associates Inc. (JLP) has obtained a services agreement with Pacific Imperial Railroad Inc. to provide a bridge management program, inspect 57 bridges and 17 tunnels, and provide track inspection services for the Desert Line. JLP also will provide oversight during test train operations in compliance with the railroad's agreement with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.

The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) has relocated to a new Washington, D.C.-area office. AREMA's headquarters now is located at 4501 Forbes Blvd., Suite 130, Lanham, Md., 20706-4326. The association's phone and fax numbers remain the same.

Michael Baker Jr. announced several promotions to assistant vice president positions, including: Joseph Danyo, AVP of civil, structures and construction services for Baker's New Jersey transportation operations; Marta Gerber, AVP and department manager for the Phoenix transportation market; Magdy Hagag, AVP and key client relationship manager for New Jersey transportation; Paul McGuinness, AVP and operations manager for Rocky Hill, Conn., transportation operations; Rachel McQuillen, AVP and national alternative delivery market group business development, with emphasis on the East, Central and West regions; and David Tudryn, AVP and operations manager for Rocky Hill.
