Georgetown Rail Equipment Co.'s (GREX) board has elected Christopher Aadnesen as executive chairman. Aadnesen recently retired as president and chief executive officer of Alaska Railroad Corp. He has more than 40 years of experience in the railroad industry, including a previous stint as GREX's chairman from 2007 to 2010.

Alstom, as leader of the UT Alstom-Sytecsa consortium, has been selected by Metro de Medellin to provide the power system for the new Ayacucho Tram under construction in Medellin, Colombia. Alstom's share of the contract is valued at more than $6.7 million. The Ayacucho Green Corridor Tram is slated for commissioning in 2015.

BNSF Railway Co. has chosen Microsoft Office 365 as part of its Railroad 2020 vision to improve communications and provide access to data for desk-less workers nationwide, according to a press release from Microsoft Corp.
