Alstom obtained two contracts to provide a signaling system and electromechanical equipment for Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels. The first contract involves the installation of Alstom's Urbalis 200 signaling system in a consortium with Thales. The companies also will provide points machines and related station signaling equipment. The second contract calls for Alstom and three other companies to provide a power supply to feed the third rail, elevators, escalators and a ventilation system.STV Group has appointed Richard Winokur vice president. Currently serving as technical director for the firm's architectural staff, he first joined the firm in 2014. Winokur has more than 30 years of architectural experience. Hanson Professional Services Inc. added technician and railroad designer Jon McCaffrey to its staff. Prior to his hiring, McCaffrey worked in commuter-aided design and drafting at Harmon Industries and Southwest Signal Engineering Co. Greenbriar Equity Group LLC promoted Michael Weiss to managing director. Weiss first joined the firm in 2004, and he has played a leading role in structuring and sourcing several transportation investments, according to a company press release.I.D. Systems, Inc. received a notice of allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its advanced cargo sensing system for dry van trailers and intermodal containers. Equipped with an ultrasonic cargo detector, the technology integrates a battery-powered, light-based sensor to improve cargo sensing accuracy, provide additional load data and maximize battery life, according to an I.D. Systems press release.
