STV obtained a contract from the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) to prepare environmental and engineering documents for the Burbank-to-Los Angeles and Los Angeles-to-Anaheim project sections, which will include high-speed rail stations at Union Station in Los Angeles and the Anaheim Regional Intermodal Transportation Center. Prior to the contract, STV had been under another contract with CHSRA to perform environmental and engineering work on the 30-mile Los Angeles-to-Anaheim project section. Parsons Brinckerhoff will begin work on a seven-year, $700 million rail delivery partner contract awarded by the California High-Speed Rail Authority. Parsons will be responsible for program management, integration, delivery, and planning of operations and maintenance. The firm is partnering with Network Rail Consulting and LeighFisher on the project.Bombardier obtained a $228 million contract to supply 162 MOVIA cars to Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Ltd. (DMRC) in India. The new units increase DMRC's existing fleet of MOVIA metros to 776. Delivery is slated to begin in the third-quarter 2016 and will be completed in early 2018.Alstom has been awarded a $50 million contract from Nordjyske Jernbane in Denmark to supply 13 Coradia Lint regional trains. The diesel multiple unit (DMU) trains are capable of reaching a maximum operating speed of 86 mph and are expected to enter service in fall 2017. SmartDrive Systems appointed Derek White director of transit sales. With experience in development and promotion of video-based safety solutions for passenger rail and buses, White will lead the company's business development initiatives in the transit sector. He'll also guide the development of product enhancements to meet the needs of transit providers. White is a member of the Community of Minority Transit Officials and the American Public Transportation Association. The Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS) elected the following to its board: Paul Brum, president and chief executive officer of Universal Rail Systems; Gord Strilchuk, senior vice president and chief technical officer for PNR RailWorks Signals & Communications Division; and Scott Diercks, director of marketing and business development at Loram Maintenance of Way Inc. In addition, CARS also appointed Paul Nimigon president. He is currently VP rail transportation for MMM Group Ltd. Meanwhile, Mario Peloquin and Doug Reece were named VPs for CARS. Peloquin serves as VP of transformation for Thales Canada Transportation Solutions, while Reece is director marketing and business development at Procor Ltd.
