New Jersey Transit selected Apollo Video Technology to provide video recording systems with Railhead Corp.'s inward-facing cameras in the agency's fleet of locomotives and rail car cabs. Aimed at in helping improve accident investigations and operator performance, the installation of the cameras coincides with the National Transportation Safety Board's recommendation. This installation will furnish the agency's fleet with 1,200 cameras and recording equipment across 230 locomotives, cab cars and Arrow III electric rail cars.Irish Rail will deploy Nexala's R2M real-time remote diagnostics monitoring system on its CAF 29000 commuter-rail fleet. The system is designed to allow operators to streamline maintenance costs and provide efficiencies across the fleet by automating manual tasks. With the on-board Nexala Control Unit, communications and R2M software, Irish Rail will be able to aggregate data from a range of sources such as control units, alarm concentrators and fuel systems, according to a press release from Trimble Navigation Ltd., which owns Nexala.Bombardier Transportation presented its 100th FLEXITY tram to the Berliner Transport Authority (BVG) in Berlin. In 2008, four pre-series FLEXITY vehicles were tested in Berlin, and in 2011, the units entered passenger service, according to a Bombardier press release. Currently, BVG has ordered 142 units, with full delivery expected by the end of 2017, so that the fleet can be made accessible for people with disabilities.Bourque Logistics and Industrial Networks late last week marked 10 years of partnership. Since 2005, Bourque has provided Industrial Networks with the YardMaster® Solution™, which provides rail-car and truck shipment management functions for industrial shippers. The software includes rail-car request and release, switching, onsite inventory, and several other functions, according to a joint press release.
