Duos Technologies Group Inc. (duostech) has been awarded a contract to deploy its vehicle undercarriage examiner (vue™) imaging system on a Class I railroad. The vue system is part of duostech's proprietary Railcar Inspection Portal technology, which combines several of the company's intelligent technologies and sub-systems using analytical algorithms to process and evaluate a range of data from multiple sensor technologies. One of the major objectives of the new technology is reducing terminal dwell time of rolling stock.The Knorr-Bremse Group has acquired the rail transport activities of brake pad specialist TMD Friction, which is a member of Nisshinbo Holdings Inc. in Japan. TMD develops and produces friction materials for railway applications at its plants in Coswig, Germany, and Manchester, United Kingdom. The acquisition is aimed at strengthening Knorr-Bremse's position as a systems supplier, company officials said in a press release. The Bombardier-Alstom Consortium and the Societe de Transport de Montreal on Sunday marked the entry into service of the agency's new AZUR metro rail cars. Alstom's scope of work for the contract is to supply more than 900 bogies for the new cars, an automatic train control system, communications and passenger information, and video surveillance systems, Alstom officials said in a press release.Skelly and Loy Inc. has appointed Sandra Basehore executive vice president-environmental services. She joined the company in 1990 and most recently served as vice president in charge of Skelly and Loy's Harrisburg Environmental Services Group. The company also named Gerald Longenecker executive vice president-engineering services. He joined Skelly and Loy in 1993 and most recently served as vice president of the environmental engineering services group. In their new roles, they'll be responsible for all aspects of personnel and project management, client satisfaction and business development for their designated service areas.
