The city of Ottawa has awarded a contract to a joint venture comprising STV Group Inc., AECOM, Morrison Hershfield and McMillen Jacobs Associates for preliminary engineering and program management of the O-Train light-rail extension program's second stage. The project will extend three existing light-rail routes, totaling 18.64 miles of new rail and 19 new stations. Stage II is aimed at bringing 70 percent of all city residents within 3.1 miles of rail transportation, STV officials said in a press release. The firm has managed infrastructure projects in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 60 years, and the new office consolidates the company's offerings in the environment, buildings and transportation sectors. The company's work includes development and implementation of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's light-rail network. LTK Engineering Services has announced that Dominic DiBrito will become president on Jan. 1, 2017. He'll replace George Dorshimer, who will retire. Dorshimer served as president for 22 years. DiBrito joined LTK in 2005 with a diverse background in the rail industry, according to an LTK press release. He provided consulting services to the government and the supply industry, and later served as the chief engineer for a rail-car manufacturer.Michael Baker International Associate Vice President Kirsten Bowen has been named the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) member of the year. She was recognized for her commitment to the growth of WTS and the advancement of women in transportation, according to a Michael Baker a press release. Based in Cleveland, Bowen was a key figure in creating the WTS Northeast Ohio chapter. She recruited the required number of members to join and volunteered to serve as chapter president. She helped grow the chapter from 20 initial members to 65 current ones.
