KamPa International Inc. and voestalpine Nortrak Inc. have formed a partnership to provide North American freight and passenger railroads with rail dampers and noise control components. The "KamPa by Nortrak" partnership will combine KamPa's patented European technology and noise reduction expertise with Nortrak's design and manufacturing capabilities. The scope of the partnership will include the KamPa Damper, which is a passive tuned device that clamps to the rail and controls broadband railway noise at its source by reducing rail vibration during the passage of a train. Canadian Pacific has selected an integrated suite of public safety software from Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure for managing major incidents and responses. The dispatching and mobile solutions are aimed at helping CP police and dangerous goods teams manage incidents along the Class I's 12,000-mile rail network. The integrated incident and emergency management solution will provide emergency planning and response capabilities, Hexagon officials said in a press release. The suite of software features Hexagon's Intergraph® Computer-Aided Dispatch and Intergraph Mobile for Public Safety. McDonald Transit Associates Inc. has appointed Blaine Rigler as president. He succeeds Ken Fischer, who has served as interim president of the company since Robert Babbitt's retirement in October. Rigler has more than 25 years of experience in leadership and operations management. His expertise encompasses sales and marketing leadership, international business, operations and technology systems innovation. Before joining McDonald Transit, Rigler served as senior vice president of global solutions at Iron Mountain Inc.Bombardier Transportation has received a $370 million order for 52 additional commuter trains from France's SNCF. The first trains of this order will be delivered in early 2018 and will operate from the Paris Saint Lazare Station as part of a transportation modernization plan. The units will be built at Bombardier's facility in Crespin, France.
