BNSF Logistics LLC announced the winners of its annual Supplier Excellence award, which honors suppliers across all transportation modes for on-time service, capacity and customer service performance, company officials said in a press release. Winners include Norfolk Southern Railway in the rail and rail clearance supplier category, American Rail Center in the transloader category, and CSX in the domestic intermodal category.
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority awarded Tutor Perini Corp. a contract to complete civil improvements for a $432 million project to widen the L.A. Union Station portal to the Division 20 subway rail yards. Under the contract, Tutor Perini will demolish and modify the existing tunnel portal and install new track, a third rail, traction power and train control systems. The firm also will construct new storage areas and a new turn-back facility to improve rail-yard flow and efficiency, company officials said in a press release. Work is expected to begin in the spring and will be substantially completed in early 2024.
Agility Logistics named Chris Price chief executive officer of the Global Integrated Logistics (GIL) business, effective May 1. Price will succeed Essa Al-Saleh, who will step down after 13 years in the role and 22 years with the company, according to a company press release. Al-Saleh will continue to advise the company. Price now is regional CEO of Agility’s Asia Pacific logistics business and has been with the company for 36 years. Soren Poulsen, now head of Agility GIL North Asia, will succeed Price.
STV named Richard Eitland vice president and corporate director of quality. Prior to joining STV, Eitland held senior quality assurance and control roles at multinational engineering firms. He has expertise in Federal Railroad Administration design and validation, corrective and preventive action, as well as auditing and continuous improvement programs, STV officials said.
Abloy USA hired Jeff McCormick as a PROTEC 2 CLIQ™ locks and key systems specialist. He will support and train customers on the CLIQ products, as well as develop documentation for integrators and sales, Abloy officials said a press release. McCormick has 15 years of experience in software and technical support. Previously, he was a technician and sales engineer for Keri Systems, a card access control and integrated security systems manufacturer.
G2 Capital Advisors hired Chris Hughes as managing director and practice leader of transportation and logistics. Hughes has nearly 30 years of experience crafting and executing top line and profit expansion strategies in transportation, supply chain, logistics and consumer products. Previously, Hughes served as the chief executive officer of E*Fill America, president of Cooltrax Americas, and founder and president of Agro Merchants Group, G2 officials said in a press release.
