Hainesport Holdings formed Technical Rail Services (TRS), a new waste-by-rail company for the transportation of construction and demolition debris, municipal solid waste, contaminated soil and wastewater residuals. Neil Rogers joined TRS as president. Rogers has 20 years of experience in the rail industry, most recently as rail operations director for Epic.

Cisco announced its intent to acquire Fluidmesh Networks. Fluidmesh delivers wireless backhaul solutions for mission critical applications, including for high-speed rail and mass transit. The acquisition will accelerate Cisco’s industrial Internet of Things business and broaden reach to key customer segments, company officials said in a press release. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of fiscal-year 2020.

Hub Group announced that Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer Terri Pizzuto will retire June 30. Pizzuto joined Hub Group in 2002 and assumed her current role in 2007. During her tenure, she led the company’s finance and accounting functions, supporting the business as it grew from $1 billion in revenue to nearly $4 billion today. Pizzuto will remain a company employee until June 30, 2021, to assist with the transition of her duties. Geoff DeMartino will succeed Pizzuto as EVP and CFO. Kevin Beth will join as EVP and chief accounting officer. Both appointments will be effective July 1.

Burns & McDonnell appointed Jeff Jobe to lead railroad bridge design and construction projects across the Midwest. He has 15 years of experience in railroad bridge design, construction management and project control for Class I and short lines. Jobe has managed or contributed to more than 20 major rail build-out and improvement projects throughout his career.

Alstom and Hochbahn AG launched commercial service of the Hesop energy converter in Hamburg, Germany. Installed at the Rauhes Haus metro station, the converter captures 99 percent of train braking energy and redirects it for use at the station, returning any excess to the energy grid.

Keolis reported revenue of 6.6 billion euros in 2019, a nearly 11 percent growth compared with 2018. Operational profitability increased 6.6 percent to 418 million euros. The growth was driven by the full-year effect of major contracts that began in 2018 and new contracts obtained in 2019, company officials said in a press release. The contract awarded by Transport for Wales in June 2018 generated a turnover of 414 million euros in 2019 compared to 91 million euros in 2018.
