Alstom announced today it has completed its acquisition of Bombardier Transportation. The acquisition will strengthen the company's leadership in the growing sustainable mobility market by reaching a critical size in all geographies, and integrating additional solutions and assets to better serve customers, Alstom officials said in a press release. The enlarged group has a combined proforma revenue of 15.7 billion euros, and a combined backlog worth $7.11 billion euros. The company employs 75,000 people worldwide in 70 countries. Recent stimulus announcements "clearly confirm the development of sustainable mobility and more specifically of rail as a long-term priority," Alstom officials said. The rail manufacturing market is expected to grow at a 2.3% compound annual growth rate by 2025, they added.
Diversified Product Development has established the RailWise™ brand to accommodate its growing line of products for the hi-rail market. The new brand encompasses several of Diversified's existing hi-rail products and will help clarify the company's focus as it expands its rail industry solutions. Established hi-rail maintenance products in the brand include platform truck, bucket truck, rail brake and trailer axle systems.
The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. announced several senior management promotions. Brian Comstock has been appointed chief commercial and leasing officer in preparation for the planned August 2022 retirement of Mark Rittenbaum. William Krueger, senior VP of Greenbrier Manufacturing Organization, has assumed responsibility for facilities in Arkansas and Missouri acquired in the ARI acquisition. Rick Galvan, who joined Greenbrier Rail Services (GRS) as SVP of operations in October 2019, succeeds Rick Turner, who led GRS since 2013 and retired Dec. 31, 2020. Dan Weiler, head of Greenbrier Management Services, now reports to Greenbrier President and Chief Operating Officer Lorie Tekorius. And Laurie Dornan has been promoted to SVP and chief human resources officer.
An HDR-Gannett Fleming led team has been selected as the program consultant on the Toronto Transit Commission's subway capacity enhancement program for Line 2. The team will provide advisory, planning and engineering services on the capacity enhancement of the TTC Line 2 subway in Toronto.
WSP USA has hired Thomas LeBeau and Darwin Desen as vice presidents for the firm's national transit and rail team. LeBeau, who has held executive level positions in public and private agencies and private consultants, will serve as the transit and rail market lead. Desen, who has more than 30 years of experience providing services for public and private clients, will serve as senior managing director for transit and rail. Both will work in the firm's Dallas office.
TRAC Intermodal announced the appointment of Kenneth Forster as chief executive officer at subsidiary FYX Fleet Roadside Assistance, effective Feb. 8. He will replace Rodney Goderwis, vice president at FYX, who is retiring. Goderwis joined the company in 1984 and has been leading FYX — formerly TRAC Interstar — as vice president since 2000. Forster has held a number of senior leadership roles at transportation companies. Most recently, he was chief operating officer and president at MODE Transportation in Dallas.
