Freightcar America Inc. last week appointed Terence Rogers vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Rogers had been serving as interim CFO since January. He has nearly 40 years of experience in finance, accounting and operations with a proven track record in strategic planning, corporate restructuring, accounting and investor relations. Prior to joining FreightCar America, Rogers was executive VP and CFO at Roadrunner Transportation Systems from 2017 to 2019. He also previously held executive management roles at Heico Cos. and Ryerson.
Miner Enterprises Inc. has been named a Trinity Premium Supplier for a Direct Supplier by TrinityRail, which recognizes direct and indirect suppliers for superior performance. To win recognition, Miner had to meet and surpass key performance criteria, including exceeding annual on-time delivery requirements and quality expectations; participating in TrinityRail's supply chain initiatives; working with TrinityRail on cost reduction; and collaborating with TrinityRail on innovative new product development projects, Miner officials said in a press release.
Thales has been selected to provide 82 of its vehicle on-board controller (VOBC) devices on 41 new trains for TransLink's SkyTrain fleet expansion in Vancouver, Canada. The VOBC is a key component of Thales' SelTrac™ communications-based train control system. The VOBC technology is designed to increase capacity and passenger safety.
Teleste will supply its information displays and management system as a service together with JCDecaux to Tampere Tramway in Finland. Teleste will deliver and install 90 double-sided TFT LCD displays at tramway stops and shelters, and maintain and upgrade the hardware throughout a seven-year contract. The agreement also includes deployment and maintenance of Teleste's passenger information management software.
HDR named Tom McLaughlin president of its global transportation program. An executive vice president at HDR, McLaughlin succeeds Brent Felker, who retired at the end of 2020. As president, McLaughlin will focus on continuing the growth of the firm's transportation program, which includes more than 4,000 employees and generated more than $1 billion in new revenue in 2020. Previously, he was HDR's U.S. Northeast regional director of operations. McLaughlin joined HDR 18 years ago.
