EllisDon, a construction services and infrastructure development company, has formed a partnership to advance the development of high-speed rail connecting Edmonton, Red Deer, and Calgary in Alberta. EllisDon and its team proposed the project within the government of Alberta’s unsolicited proposal guidelines and framework. "We have built a team with both the capacity and faith in the future of our province to advance it in a meaningful way for Albertans," said Jeffrey Hansen-Carlson, director with EllisDon Capital and project director for Prairie Link, in a press release. Prairie Link has secured a memorandum of understanding (MOU) from Alberta Transportation laying the foundation for advancing project development.

The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. last week reported its fiscal third-quarter (ended May 31) net earnings of $19.7 million, or 59 cents per diluted share. Net earnings included $3.6 million, or 10 cents per share, of loss on extinguishment of debt, net of tax. Adjusted net earnings attributable to Greenbrier for the fiscal quarter were $23.3 million, or 69 per diluted share. New rail-car orders in the quarter were valued at $400 million, with 3,300 units delivered. Rail-car backlog as of the fiscal quarter’s end on May 31 was 24,800 units, with an estimated value of $2.6 billion.

Alstom will supply 19 five-car MP14 metros with driver's cab for line 11 of the Ile-de-France Mobilites network operated by RATP, for a total value of 132 million euros. This order falls within the framework of the MP14 contract signed in March 2015 between RATP and Alstom for the delivery of a maximum of 217 MP14 trains over 15 years, for a total amount of more than 2 billion euros.
