STV marked reaching another milestone in the California high-speed rail (HSR) program with the approval of its environmental impact report/environmental impact statement for the Burbank-to-Los Angeles project section by the California HSR Authority. STV serves as the prime consultant for this assignment on behalf of the authority. The 14-mile stretch is the second HSR section in Southern California to clear environmental criteria set by the authority’s board, and the first approved in the Los Angeles region.

Focused Technology Solutions Inc., a Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway company, has agreed to a licensing deal with FTS Tools LLC for its battery-operated, maintenance-of-way tool line. The company will continue using the same engineering, manufacturing and warehousing resources while operating under the same FTS product brands. “We are pleased that FTS Tools LLC will be taking our revolutionary tool line, including the SpikeEase, DrillEase, LagEase and more, to new heights,” the company said in a message to their customers on Feb. 1.

Alstom obtained a turnkey contract with Infra.To in Italy to supply the company’s latest generation of its fully driverless train-to-train CBTC system for line 1 of Turin Metro, as well as four new Metropolis trains. Valued at 156 million euros, the contract includes an option for 12 more Metropolis trains.

Carboline announced that Anthony Verberght will join the company as managing director of Carboline Europe, effective Feb. 28. Working with the Carboline executive team, Verberght will oversee Europe's strategy development, growth and profitability. He will also implement a project to increase the company’s European business. Verberght has over 20 years of experience in protective coatings, gained as an entrepreneur and in senior roles within the world's largest protective coatings company.

Steffanie Vagnozzi last week joined Edna A. Rice Executive Recruiters Inc. as an executive recruiter. She is responsible for attracting top talent in the rail and transportation industry. Vagnozzi’s 17 years in the rail industry includes stints with TrinityRail and The Greenbrier Cos.

WAGO has named Jeremy Martel regional sales manager for WAGO Canada’s Montreal North territory. He has spent the past 15 years in sales at the distributor level. "From distributors to the automation product line, I feel there is lots of growth opportunity at WAGO," Martel said in a press release.
