Wabtec Corp. will bring the ES44ACi diesel-electric locomotive to Brazil’s freight-rail market with deliveries to Suzano, MRS Logistica and Rumo SA this month and next. The effort to introduce the ES44ACi locomotive in Brazil was an eight-year project with operators, Wabtec officials said in a press release. The objective is to improve Brazil’s heavy-haul rail network and drive sustainability. To date, Wabtec has secured orders for 25 locomotives from the three companies.
The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. President and CEO Lorie Tekorius has been elected to the company's board. Following her promotion to CEO on March 1, the election of Tekorius increases Greenbrier’s board from 10 to 11 members. She is expected to be nominated for a three-year board term at Greenbrier’s annual shareholders meeting in January 2023.
Jim Bowe retired March 28 as chief commercial officer of TRAC Intermodal, following a more than 40-year career at the company. TRAC achieved record business growth during his four-year tenure as CCO, company officials said in a press release. Succeeding Bowe is Jake Gilene, who has over 15 years of leadership experience at Brambles Ltd., a supply chain and logistics company. Most recently, Gilene served as senior vice president of sales and customer service for CHEP, Bramble’s largest operating division.
Keolis North America appointed Alex Wu vice president of digital transformation and chief information officer (CIO). Wu has more than 30 years of experience in IT. Most recently, he was deputy CIO at the National Gallery of Art. In his new role, Wu will be responsible for further digitizing business processes, developing new tools and implementing innovative technologies, and helping to accelerate the clean-energy transition in public transportation, Keolis officials said in a press release.
Mitsui Rail Capital (MRC) has appointed Ashley Dietiker commercial operations and customer service manager. Dietiker joins the company with more than eight years of experience in the rail industry. Before serving as operations manager at Infinity Transportation, she was rail fleet administrator and fleet maintenance coordinator for VTG Rail, which she joined in 2014. At VTG, she managed maintenance for a rail fleet of more than 6,300 cars.
Maintenance-of-way workers at Alstom/Bombardier Transportation Co., which operates and maintains the SunRail in central Florida, recently voted to be represented by the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS). The newest members of the BRS perform track maintenance and construction work on the 32-mile commuter-rail line, according to the union's website.
