Transdev announced an agreement to acquire First Transit Inc., a mobility solutions company specializing in transit systems. Headquartered in Cincinnati, First Transit operates multiple sustainable transit modes in the United States and Canada, including commuter and light rail. The acquisition will extend Transdev's North American operations to Canada's western provinces. The purchase will enable both companies to better provide transit agencies with their decarbonization efforts and create more affordable public transportation, Transdev officials said in a press release. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Greenbrier Cos. reported year-end results for fiscal-year 2022, which ended Aug. 31. Net earnings reached $47 million, or $1.40 per diluted share, on nearly $3 billion in revenue. Diversified new rail-car orders totaled 24,600 units valued at $2.9 billion with deliveries of nearly 20,000 units. Regular lease fleet optimization and monetization generated $155 million in proceeds and $35 million in gains. Greenbrier increased the number of rail cars in its lease fleet by nearly 40% during FY22.

AECOM was awarded a contract by the Toronto Transit Commission to serve as owner's engineer for the project to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge Station. The project calls for adding a passenger platform, lengthening existing passenger platforms, improving safety and accessibility and providing upgrades to entrances and exits. AECOM will provide design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover and close-out services.

IntelliTrans has introduced ocean shipments to its Global Supply Chain Visibility Platform, which combines rail, barge, truck and now ocean freight for shippers to plan and track containers. The platform provides connections to more than 100 ocean carriers, non-vessel operating common carriers and freight forwarders. Scheduling capabilities help shippers determine the best route option and predict potential critical events along the route, company officials said in a press release.
