Trinity Industries Inc. acquired RSI Logistics Inc. for $70 million. The acquisition is a strategic move for both companies due to the combination of RSI's rail technology and logistics services and Trinity's rail-car manufacturing and leasing services, RSI Logistics officials said in a press release. The move is "another step as we seek to expand our service offerings with complementary solutions that make rail a more compelling mode of transportation," said Trinity CEO and President Jean Savage.
Bilton Welding and Manufacturing Ltd. has been selected to provide fabrication expertise and services to Canadian Pacific's hydrogen locomotive program, which converted a diesel locomotive to a hydrogen-electric drivetrain with zero carbon emissions. The Class I plans to convert more locomotives as part of its goal to decarbonize the freight transportation sector. All aspects of the project will be completed at Bilton's manufacturing facilities in Innisfail, Alberta.
Honeywell International Inc. was awarded an AUD$180 million contract by Sydney Metro West in Australia to provide critical systems for the 15-mile line and its nine new stations. The agreement includes the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning and maintenance of building management control systems, CCTV, public address, fire detection and passenger information display systems. Honeywell will also provide support for "years to come," company officials said in a press release.
Transdev's U.S. operation has hired Karen Keaton as vice president of human resources. She will lead the HR partnership and delivery function supporting Transdev's various business lines. Her team also will focus on strategies, processes, work plans and key performance indicators to positively impact business results. Keaton has 30 years of experience in HR and spent much of her career at FedEx Corp.
Edwin Bohr Electronics Inc. has named Bruce Bloomster sales director. He will oversee the sales teams at Bohr locations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Searcy, Arkansas, and manage sales and marketing for the company's new, repair and return, remanufactured and reengineered locomotive electronics products. Most recently, Bloomster worked at Harting Inc. and GE Transportation, a division of Wabtec Corp.
