Cordel and D/Gauge obtained a 6.5-year contract from Amtrak to update clearance assessment on the railroad’s network. The companies’ software and hardware package will provide scanning and storage of network-wide structure survey data and automated calculation and reporting of clearance information. Cordel will provide artificial intelligence, scanning and data processing components; D/Gauge will provide clearance technology.

Nexxiot released a new multipurpose vector sensor to monitor brakes, hatches and doors on rail cars. The technology — which eliminates the need for physical inspections and manual reporting — has a service life of more than 15 years and provides data in real time. The sensor connects to the company’s Globehopper gateway via Bluetooth, where the data can be received by the Nexxiot Connect Intelligent Cloud for processing and analysis.
