HDR Inc. was selected by the Utah Department of Transportation to provide program management services for the nearly $1 billion FrontRunner Strategic Double Track project, which will add at least nine segments of double track and update signaling systems along the 83-mile FrontRunner commuter-rail system. Upon completion, the project is expected to increase peak service frequency from 30 minutes to 15 minutes and increase overall capacity by 55%. HDR will manage the scope, schedule and cost of the project in coordination with UDOT and the Utah Transit Authority.
Parsons Corp. was awarded a $40 million contract by Bay Area Rapid Transit to deliver general engineering services through 2028. This is the fourth consecutive engineering services contract that Parsons has obtained with BART; the company and transit agency have worked together for more than 30 years. The new contract covers projects such as strategic planning to convert portions of BART’s nonrevenue fleet to zero-emission vehicles, support for capital programs, track and civil design, traction power engineering support, structural and geotechnical design and fiber-optic upgrades. Additionally, Parsons is providing design services during construction of BART’s installation of a communications-based train control system on 125 miles of track.
CACI International Inc.'s Cygnum software is now being used by Network Rail in the United Kingdom for planning and administration of training to the railway’s 43,000 employees. The software supports Network Rail’s training management, including automated course creation based on demand, trainer and resource allocation and planning communication and optimization.
